The MCA Recreation Centre at Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai, designed by Shashi Prabhu & Associates, is a landmark multi-sport facility integrating India’s first indoor cricket academy with a comprehensive range of recreational amenities. Completed in 2008, it combines a neo-classical façade with state-of-the-art sports infrastructure, creating a balance between tradition and modernity.
At its core are seven fully air-conditioned, humidity-controlled indoor cricket nets equipped with retractable systems and advanced video analytics for professional training. Complementing the cricket facilities are two international-standard squash courts, two badminton courts, and three outdoor tennis courts, offering a diverse sporting experience for members and athletes. The centre also houses a modern gymnasium, health club, spa, and a temperature-controlled swimming pool, creating a holistic wellness environment. Clear zoning and circulation ensure smooth transitions between the cricket academy, racquet sports areas, and fitness facilities, optimizing both privacy and accessibility. Architecturally, the design emphasizes modular planning for flexibility and future adaptability. Natural daylight filters through large glazed openings, while specialized HVAC systems maintain precise indoor conditions for sports performance.
