The Dome at NSCI, Mumbai, designed by Shashi Prabhu & Associates, is one of India’s premier multipurpose indoor arenas—setting new benchmarks for large-scale event infrastructure in the country. Conceived as a dynamic and flexible venue, The Dome was envisioned to accommodate a wide range of events including international sports, concerts, exhibitions, conventions, and cultural performances.

The design was conceived taking into consideration the need of Mumbai city to have an indoor area that would be able to host numerous cultural, sports and entertainment in Mumbai, all within a controlled environment.

A landmark in urban event architecture, The Dome stands as a testament to SPA’s ability to blend structural innovation with user-centric design. It has played host to global celebrities, international sporting events, and national ceremonies—cementing its place as a cultural and sporting icon in Mumbai.

The exterior design complements the robust functional core with a contemporary façade and legible access systems. Public concourses, VIP lounges, athlete zones, and backstage infrastructure have been meticulously planned for crowd management, safety, and operational efficiency.

The architectural challenge was to create a structure with clear spans, unobstructed sightlines, and state-of-the-art acoustics, while ensuring rapid convertibility between formats. The result is a monumental volume defined by its vast column-free span, advanced retractable seating systems, and superior lighting and sound integration. With a seating capacity exceeding 8,000, the arena offers immersive experiences for audiences across scales.
