The site where the office for Bank of India is to be built is at a very prime location, situated between station road of Andheri Western Railway Station & S. V. Road. The plot is a narrow one and currently we are working on the Phase-I of the project, towards the side of S. V. Road.

It is a redevelopment project, i.e., constructed after demolishing the existing bank building, to include existing features & additional client departments. The client’s brief revolved around the brand philosophy of complete transparency in every operation. Being a narrow plot, the main challenge was to achieve maximum functional floor area. We have created the design of an iconic 4-storey building by having a dynamic floor stacking, with triple height atrium & cantilevered slab at 3rd floor.

Due to the applicable height restrictions due to civil aviation norms, we focussed on achieving better floor height. A flat slab structure was adapted while architectural designing process.

Atrium is covered with glazing on the west & north sides, for which we have proposed a suspended system that is made of sleek aluminium member spanning vertically. The aluminium system is suspended at the top structure to accommodate wind pressure and dead load of system including glass. The glass is supported on vertical sides by means of mechanically pressed aluminium caps holding Glass to vertical ember and 15mm groove is sealed with non-staining weather sealant.

“The many constraints like the plot structure, the height restrictions and it being a redevelopment project, we have worked extensively on the sustainability of this structure, without compromising on its grandeur and exclusivity.”
