POLICE HOUSING
While the Mumbai Police continue to serve the people of Mumbai and ensure law and order in the city, the accommodation of the police force is in a bad shape. To change this situation, Mumbai Police has conceptualised an integrated township project of 10,000 dwelling units in Panvel, exclusively for the police force and their families.
With the project supposed to be home to 50,000 residents, the planning for the project posed many challenges. This included planning of indoor spaces inside each dwelling unit to ensure maximum space, while ensuring that the community spaces foster bonding. At the same time, the housing society plans to offer spaces of utility like healthcare, for the entire police housing community.
“The idea while designing the project was simple- bring a sense of pride for the police fraternity while living in the homes here. Implementing a sustainable and livable design approach, the township will emphasise on the identity while enhancing the quality of life.”
